The Gyspsy Shawl , by Evelyn A. Clark, is inspired by a friend's passion for color - stemming from a childhood day with Gypsies.
Simple lace patterns are used on this garter stitch square to encourage experimentation with color.
Beginning with a provisional cast on, the center is worked back and forth in rows. Then borders are worked in the round ending with a beaded picot cast off. The shawl can be made in one color or many, using bright hues or subtle shades.
Instructions are written for lace weight yarn, but this design also looks great in fingering, sport, dk or worsted weight yarns for larger shawls and throws.
