In Puccini?s beautiful opera La Boh?me, Musetta is coquette and lively and has many suitors who give her gifts. Her shawl is a study in flirtation.
It is worked from the long bottom edge to the top edge in a panelled lace pattern. Its geometric arrangement of knit and purl stitches create a reversible fabric. The ruffles, bordering each side, mimic and resolve the main pattern.
